Two New Stormwater Funding Programs Available for Urban Areas

REAP Funds - The Johnson County Soil and Water Conservation District can now use Resource Enhancement and Protection (REAP) dollars to fund stormwater best management practices.   Fifty percent (50%) cost-share is available. 

Stormwater BMP Loans - The Stormwater BMP Loans are a new source of low-cost financing for long term / voluntary practices that manage storm water quality . This opportunity is available specifically to assist and encourage developers and cities to address non-point source pollution of Iowa streams and lakes. (brochure)

Eligible practices include:

  • Bioretention cells and rain gardens
  • Detention Practices (Dry and Wet Detention)
  • Filtration Practices (Surface, Perimeter, and Underground Sand Filters)
  • Infiltration Practices (Basins and Trenches)
  • Native Landscaping
  • Permeable Pavement Systems
  • Soil Quality Restoration
  • Stormwater Wetlands
  • Vegetated Swales (Dry, Wet, and Grass)
